According to his dying father, Prince Adam of Alastaire will fail as king, destroying fifty years of peace. Unable to face the challenges of leading a nation and relying on a shallow faith in God to sustain him, Adam devotes a year to finding a bride and securing the succession. Although he makes promises to thirty-seven women first, when he meets the daughter of his least favored noble, the barefoot Lady Elaina, he finally finds his true love.
A homebody, whose only ambition is to stay at her beloved Elsanore, Lady Elaina resists the advances of the smitten king of Alastaire. Although brutally honest with words, she struggles to convince King Adam of her disinterest due to her willing responses to his desperate kisses. Only when King Adam mentions his cousin Lord Drake Eastmore is Elaina enticed to leave Elsanore.
Drake’s ambitions are much grander than his old friend Elaina’s, and while Adam avoids his duties as King, Drake puts plans in motion that will unravel fifty years of peace for Alastaire and fulfill King Tyler’s prophecy.
As death and destruction increase around him, King Adam, unable to simultaneously secure his throne, protect Elaina and defeat his enemies, must find wisdom and strength beyond himself. Will he accept his father’s dying advice to rely on God or will he continue to pursue his own path? What will he be willing to sacrifice as peace disintegrates?
I am super excited to annouce that my novel The Alastairian Legends: Peace Disintegrates won first place in the Historical Fiction category of the Scrivenings Press #GetPubbed 2021 Contest.
One of the inspirations for my debut novel, The Alastairian Legends: Peace Disintegrates, is the song Thy Will, performed by Hillary Scott. See why here.
